June Has Been Unstoppable for ELTA Madagascar! June 2026 has been an incredibly active and rewarding month for ELTA Madagascar. Through a series of impactful initiatives, ELTA Madagascar continued to promote English language education, strengthen professional networks, and support national capacity-building efforts across different sectors. In partnership with the U.S. Embassy, ELTA Madagascar has been actively contributing to linguistic empowerment in Madagascar through key programs and events. One of the major highlights of the month was the successful completion of the English for Law Enforcement (ELE) program. This comprehensive two-year capacity-building and Trainer-of-Trainers initiative supported English instructors working with the Police and Gendarme academies. By equipping trainers with the skills and tools needed to cascade their knowledge, the program contributes to sustainable English language training for future generations of law enforcement professionals. ELTA Madagascar also celebrated an important achievement at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the certificate delivery ceremony for 36 diplomats who completed a year-long English language study program. This milestone reflects the growing role of English in international communication and diplomacy. Another significant moment was the official inauguration of the ELTA Mahajanga Chapter, marking an important step in expanding ELTA Madagascar’s presence and strengthening its regional network of English language professionals. The English Language Education Summit On June 17 and 18, ELTA Madagascar proudly organized the English Language Education Summit, hosted by ENS Ampefiloha. This high-level event brought together key stakeholders from the educational and governmental sectors, including representatives from ministries, universities, ENS, high schools, ELTA, the U.S. Embassy, and English Language Fellows. Through co-presentation sessions and panel discussions, participants engaged in meaningful conversations around the current state of English language education in Madagascar. The summit provided an important platform to analyze realities on the ground, identify key challenges, and explore strategic solutions for the future. Discussions focused on three major areas: The current landscape of English language education in Madagascar Participants examined the realities, progress, and needs related to English teaching and learning across the country. Key challenges and structural barriers The summit highlighted systemic difficulties that affect English language education and explored ways to address them collectively. Strategic solutions and collaboration Stakeholders worked toward practical recommendations, shared responsibilities, and stronger partnerships to support long-term progress.
